About Tierra Alexander

Tierra Alexander developed The Food and Family Project as a part of her doctoral research at LSU School of Social Work. Her commitment to family connection is at the heart of her work. In addition to her studies, she is the owner of Sweet Legacy LLC, a mobile cafe and catering vendor that has been featured in Beignet Fest and the National Fried Chicken Festival. A portion of her business proceeds supports her research and mission to use shared food experiences and other programs to bring families together. Growing up in LaPlace, Louisiana, she understands the importance of cooking, working and eating together as a family. As a social worker, her desire is to bring this to other young people who may lack these family experiences or relationships. Through The Food & Family Project, Tierra provides opportunities for foster, adoptive, and blended families to build better connections. She loves creating recipes, making memories and empowering  communities.
